Outdoorsmen flock to the open fields and streams for hunting and fishing. The scenic Oconee River winds its way through Laurens County and harbors several public boat ramps. A new public fishing lake is stocked with bluegill, shellcrackers and channel catfish.

Southern Pines Recreational Complex offers soccer fields, a tennis complex, outdoor pool, community center, a shooting range, and several playing fields for baseball and softball. The park also includes a two-acre nature trail with three bridges over scenic ponds, and a huge play area that can accommodate more than 100 children.

An inventory of other local attractions includes 24 tennis courts, 17 parks, 4 running tracks, a senior citizen activity center, a skating rink and movie theater.

In addition, it would be remise not to mention that many residents have season tickets for Atlanta Braves and Falcons games as well.

The community is also very proud of High School sports, noting that Dublin High School's football team tied Charlton County in the 2006 State Football Championships, 13 to 13.
